April 14 - 18 - City Nature Challenge
Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth & Houston
Join the Nature Trackers challenge: which city has the most species? Any observations of plants and animals you find in the greater metro areas of Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston and download on the iNaturalist app will count for the challenge. We'll also be competing against Los Angeles, San Francisco and other cities across the nation.
April 15 - Meet the Keen Rep

Our Keen shoe rep will be on hand at our Westgate store to answer your questions about Keen shoes from 10 am to 2 pm. As an added bonus, you can enter a drawing for a pair of kids' Keen sandals. No purchase is necessary. Details at the store.
April 22 - Limestoner Climbing Competition
The Limestoner is an annual climbing competition and community event held at Reimer's Ranch Park, just west of Austin in April. The funds raised at the Limestoner go towards hardware maintenance at local crags, equipment (drills, drill bits, etc.), fundraising efforts, and Central Texas Mountaineers-led trail days.
April 23 - Women's Backpacking Class
San Antonio store
Here's your chance to get a crash course on the first steps of backpacking for women. Topics include fitting backpacks, how to use a stove, finding the right sleeping bag, tent and more! The class meets at 10 am Sunday morning, April 23rd, prior to our Quarry Market store's opening.
May 6 - 14 - Dansko Days
Dansko is supporting the Texas Land Conservancy with a special program. For each pair of full price Dansko shoes sold during Dansko Days, they will donate $5 to the Texas Land Conservancy. TLC preserves smaller tracts of land hosting endangered plant and animal species as well as conserving iconic Texas landscapes.
May 13 - Meet Carolyn Boyd Author of The White Shaman Mural

Carolyn Boyd, an artist turned archaeologist, has spent over 20 years studying the White Shaman mural and other Lower Pecos rock art sites. Drawing upon her artist's eye, as well as archaeological research, ethnohistory and art history, she offers her interpretation in The White Shaman Mural, published by the University of Texas Press. Whole Earth Provision Co. is pleased to host Dr. Boyd at our Austin N. Lamar store for a Meet the Author event on May 13th from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. Copies of The White Shaman will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
May 17 - Making the Leap to Solo Camping with Pam LeBlanc

Pam LeBlanc, a reporter for the Austin American Statesman's specializing in Fitness and Travel, will share her experience backpacking the John Muir Trail with her husband and how it inspired her Year of Adventure, chronicled in her column Fit City. The program begins at 7 pm at our Austin Westgate store.
